Appraisals for Donation and Deconstruction of Real Property
We are experienced in appraisal assignments for the donation and deconstruction of real property. Donations occur for many reasons. Here a just a few examples:
Example 1: A structure is donated to a local fire department for a training burn and the property owner shows the loss of value of the donated structure for income tax purposes. This is often performed when clearing a site with existing structures to make way for new structures.
Example 2: A structure is being remodeled and instead of demolishing the entire structure or discarding the features and finishes to a landfill, the features and finishes can be recycled/donated to an appropriately IRS designated donee again for the property owners income tax purposes.
Example 3: Donation of an entire property to an appropriately IRS designated donee.
For more information regarding noncash charitable contributions, please refer to IRS Publication 561. When the appraisal report of your donation is complete, have IRS Form 8283 completed and we will sign and date Section B Part 3. For accounting questions and tax strategies, please consult with an accountant or call us for a referral.
Our fees for these assignments vary by the complexity of the items to be donated. Please call us with your individual situation for a custom fee quote.
